MRA is looking for an ambitious Head of Design who can contribute to the growth of our agency.
The successful individual will have the vision and drive to lead the creative team of MRA’s new Experience department, which creates bespoke off and on-line experiences for a wide array of customers, both in the commercial and cultural realm.
The Head of Design will have a successful track-record in designing full-fledged experiences both in the commercial/retail sector or in the cultural/museum field.
In addition to a great eye for aesthetic and innovative design, he/she will possess in-depth understanding of the interaction between space design and digital design to create single, "global" experiences.
A team-player with experience in managing people, the successful candidate will enjoy being involved in the day to day whilst maintaining the ability to consider the bigger picture.
He/She should be willing to expand the creative team's ability and confidence in order to help the agency compete with the bigger boys at local and international level.
Role The Head of Design is responsible for designing, overseeing and presenting all aspects of the design and creative output of the Experience department.
In dialogue with the department's Managing Director, the successful candidate will ensure that commercial proposals, design presentations and creative deliverables are aligned to client expectations and executed within timescales while maintaining the agency's quality standards.
Head of Design is a leadership role with accountability for off and on-line design output, and for the overall success of the Experience department.
The ideal candidate assists the Managing Director of the department in recruiting, managing and enabling designers through a supportive environment.
With that regard, the Head of Design contributes to monitoring the work of the department's creative team and to the implementation of new processes and practices to improve its efficiency.
He/She will also work with and oversee the work of multi-disciplinary third party suppliers.
Responsibilities DESIGN • Act as a designer by developing creative concepts and original designs for the Experience department • Conceive, refine, oversee the execution of keyspace design elements, such as visitor and user flow system for both public and private, commercial and cultural spaces • Assist the creative team in conceiving and refining the execution of key online experience design elements, such as wireframe and user interface • Contribute to the department’s design and creative projects to ensure that they are delivered on time and to budget • Give inputs and manage presentations for sales pitches and proposals LEAD • Coordinate the work of the creative team of the Experience department • Take a lead role in the design of the creative elements of projects, both off and on-line, and provide quality control over the creative team's design outputs and production • Design and lead brainstorming, internal and external workshops and idea generation session, both within the agency and with clients, partners or suppliers Help develop the agency's people, expand the creative team's ability and confidence ENABLE • Head the design team as one, coherent unit by shaping a clearly defined outlook for both off and online experiences • Contribute to the constant re-assessment of the agency's quality standards; develop and maintain best practice with the creative team • Understand the insights and constraints from clients and suppliers (architects, landscape designer, interior architect, 3D designers) and brief the team accordingly • Develop and manage productivity and continuously improve the design team’s production capabilities • Advance the department's image and market position Skills and competencies personal skills • Strong work ethic with excellent organisational and communication skills • Ability to lead multiple design projects from concept to completion, with attention to detail and to clients' expectations • Ability to work as a team player, to be open to discussion and to stay tuned to the team's needs and expectations • Desire to supervise and develop employees Professional skills • Specific, in-depth knowledge of a field of design and to the related software suite • Proven track-record of work and/or management in other design fields - experience in the field of space design and/or digital experience is a plus • Strong knowledge of online and offline design and their points of interaction in the design of full-fledged experiences People skills • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing • Ability to be understood.
Capacity to storyboard ideas to designers and other members of the team and to give articulated creative briefs • Ability to influence external and internal stakeholders with clear visual ideas and concepts Background • Previous experience in a creative agency environment • At least five-year experience in a senior designer role including experience design or concept development • Proven track record in leading design projects from concept to completion • Experience in a managing position is a plus Hours – 40 hours/week (full time) Salary – Based on experience.
