SENIOR MOTOR DESIGN ENGINEER

The R&D Team for electric drive units at Stark Future develops highly integrated and power-dense drivetrains that will help Stark Future’s product offering leap ahead of anything else. As Senior Motor Design Engineer, you'll be at the core of the creation of next-generation electric motorcycles & associated products.You will report to the Head of Electric Drive Units while being part of a growing team of engineers and designers in Barcelona. You will own the complete design of the electric motor, from concept to production, always striving for maximizing performance and efficiency while minimizing weight, cost and complexity. You’ll need to balance simulation, mechanical design, experimental testing and production capabilities to achieve this in a fast-paced, evolving, and highly innovative environment.Stark Future’s mission is to lead the way towards a sustainable motorcycle industry, by reducing plastic and CO2 pollution. Our work mentality is based upon three pillarsWE CHALLENGE THE NORM TO IMPROVE HOW THINGS ARE DONEWE SEARCH FOR THE LIMIT, WE ADAPT AND WE SET CLEAR, SMART AND INSPIRING GOALSWE DELIVER OUTSTANDING RESULTSResponsibilityOwn the complete design of the electric motor, from concept to production.Leverage simulations, models & experimental testing to develop a proper validation process that supports and documents data-based decisions.Work closely with suppliers to include manufacturing at scale all along in the development process.Participate proactively in the development of Stark’s test benches and procedures.Supporting functional safety activities at propulsion system level.Properly document designs, processes and learnings.Work with the Engineering and industrialization teams to design, develop, test and ship leading high-volume electric motorcycles on time and under budget.Help define the working methodology for the fast growing Mechatronics team.Qualifications & SkillsMechatronics/Electrical or Mechanical Engineering Degree (BS, MS preferred)Strong analytical & problem solving skills.Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams & also independently with minimal supervision.Comfortable in an agile, fast-paced, ever-evolving, highly innovative environment (startup or high-tech companies).You have high standards for yourself and everyone you work with.Constantly looking for ways to improve your products performance, quality and cost. Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, fluent English is a must.ExperienceAt least 4 years of experience developing electric motors and powertrain systems. Including fully owning the CAD and manufacturing drawings.Excellent first-principle physics understanding of electrical and mechanical systems, power delivery, energy storage and transformation, and basic thermodynamics.Proven capability of conducting high-quality research and development.Ability to evaluate powertrain attributes such as performance curves,  efficiency, etc.Experience in modeling and testing of electrical machines.Experience in rotordynamics, shafts design, bearings, gears, GD&T for serial manufacturing.Familiar with all manufacturing and QC processes usually involved in the production of powerful electric motors.Experience with 3D modeling packages and FEA modeling tools.Nice to haveDirect experience using electromagnetic design tools.Direct experience with electric machine manufacturing tooling, standard motor tests and associated equipment, and motor/drive integration testing.Knowledge in feedback control theory, optimal controller design, sensored/sensorless motor control, etc.Experience with CAD and/or analysis programs such as PT Creo, MATLAB, or similarKnowledge of concepts like value proposition, business models, marketing.Demonstrable Formula SAE/Student experience.What we offerTake part in building the future of the motorcycle industry through performance light electric mobility in a rapidly growing international companyEnter early and play a key part in growing eDrive teamCompetitive conditionsmodern R&D facilities, fully equipped workstation and Software ToolsLive in beautiful Barcelona, work with amazing young team
