Role Purpose/Business Unit.
To design, build and operate an international IP MPLS network that is the enabler for providing internet services, intra-company services and all international services across this network in a technology secure manner.
This network transport all internet content, roaming traffic and inter-group services.
A major failure on this network will have a major impact on Vodacom’s ability to deliver services to our customers and internal system users.
Provide the INS Blueprint for Network Automation in a Software Defined Network implementation.
Your responsibilities will include.
Research new methodologies into Network Automation, SDN networks and network Programmability.
Provide the blueprint to deploy these new ways of working.
Provide input into INS Networks Architecture and Planning function.
To perform fault management, configuration management, change management, performance management, network integration and to provide high-level support for the network nodes, network systems and associated services on the Vodacom ISP network within Vodacom Group Design and develop ISP Networks Support tools.
Ensure network meets availability targets to support the 100+ million users on the network and provide all internet content and connectivity for all the Vodacom group of companies customers Lead a team of technical experts in transmission design, planning, deployment, and network quality.
Support mergers and acquisitions, new business development, and strategic initiatives.
Core competencies, knowledge, and experience.
Excellent knowledge of Internet Protocol and IP/MPLS Network technology and routing protocols and interfaces.
Best practices for peering and content delivery networks.
The ability to support the networks deployed in the OpCo’s.
At least 5 years’ experience in deploying these services and providing support thereof.
Programming and coding experience Network design documentation The ideal candidate for this role will have.
3 Year relevant Degree or Diploma Cisco CCIE certification (Current) Network design, architecture planning, implementation and complete technology process owner for all deployments Delivers on complex services for all markets across multiple domains and interfaces with key stakeholders in his markets.
Budget focussed on scoping equipment for his projects and optimising connectivity to content providers such as Facebook, Google and Amazon.
