BD AND TENDER MANAGER – FLOATING OFFSHORE WIND

About X1 WindX1 Wind is a disruptive floating wind technology developer. Based in Barcelona, Spain, the firm’s mission is to provide highly scalable solutions which deliver clean, affordable energy while reducing carbon emissions across the globe. The company is currently in the pre-commercial phase of its technology development and has managed to position itself as one of the front runners of the floating offshore wind sector, having been able to deploy and test the first fully functional TLP floating wind platform in the world (in late 2022), under the PivotBuoy project (X30).Our sustainable, innovative, and disruptive technology has garnered significant public support, allowing us to progress in proving its operational viability. This backing will propel our next milestone: installing a pre-commercial 6MW floating wind prototype (X90) at the Mistral test site in the French Mediterranean Sea. Role descriptionWe are currently seeking an experienced and strategic-minded individual to join our team as BD and Tender Manager, focusing on the floating offshore wind sector. In this pivotal role, the primary objective is to develop a pipeline of floating wind projects using X1 Wind platform technology. This requires a strong effort of market research and intelligence, client outreach (utilities, renewable energy developers, infrastructure funds, etc), responses to tenders and other client requests, financial and LCOE modelling, among other activities. Key Responsabilities:Conduct thorough market intelligence on key floating offshore wind markets across Europe, the US, Asia and others regions. This includes market prioritization, studying of specific legislation and maritime spatial planning, identifying potential clients and strategic partners, assessing available public support and funding sources, etc;Engage proactively with clients in target markets, fostering and managing relationships and representing the company at conferences and industry events;Lead the preparation of comprehensive information packages for floating offshore wind tenders and other requests from potential clients, ensuring alignment with project requirements and strategic objectives;Drive the internal development of floating offshore wind projects, namely reports for permitting process, negotiation of agreements for joint development with partners, and conducting feasibility assessments in close collaboration with the engineering team;Take the lead in crafting funding proposals and overseeing negotiations of funding conditions and terms. This includes writing public funding proposals, including both technical and business topics; Develop and implement strategic initiatives to enhance the company's competitiveness and market position in the offshore wind sector;Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, legal, and finance, to ensure seamless project execution and alignment with overall business objectives;Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory developments, and integrate relevant insights into tender management strategies and processes; The position reports directly to the Strategy and BD Director, whom can provide guidance in all these aspects.  Minimum RequirementsCandidates are expected to have at least the following skills and experience for their application to be considered:Education: Candidates must hold an Engineering, Business Management or Economics degree (engineering degree with business master is highly valued);Work experience: Candidates should have 5-10 years of experience in a relevant position within the sales, business development, project development and/or strategy departments (or equivalent) in the renewable energy sector (wind or solar in Spain and/or internationally)Software: good command of Excel modelling and PowerPoint presentations;Language: Advanced level of English and Spanish.Working permits: European passport, or valid E.U. working VISA. Other valuable skills and experienceConsider the following a list of nice-to-have skills and experience that will be highly valued during the selection process, but not a hard requirement to apply. Experience in market research and intelligence gathering;Good understanding of financial topics applied to energy projects (NPV, IRR, LCOE, etc);Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to effectively liaise with internal teams, external partners, and clients;Strategic mindset with the capacity to drive innovation and navigate complex project landscapes;Ability to work independently while remaining in touch with the needs of the rest of the team;Fast learner, as the candidate will be expected to get up to speed quickly with status of projects, funding applications, client relationships, etc. Ability for self-learning when required;Willingness to travel internationally for business meetings, conferences and other professional commitments;Ability to do public presentations in conferences and other public settings;Curiosity and pro-active attitude.What we offerPlace of Work: Barcelona, Spain (at our Poblenou – 22@ District office)Indefinite Contract (full time)Flexible Schedule: 40h a week with possibility of working from home 2 days a week and flexible start and end hours every day.Salary: will be competitive and commensurate with experience, and we are committed to recognizing and rewarding exceptional performance with substantial annual salary reviews.Incentive plan: after three years, you will be eligible for participation in the company ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan) program.
