And this is where your ride starts YOUR MISSION The Platform Cluster provides basic cloud infrastructure like hosting, storage, databases, and advanced features such as messaging, authentication, and SDKs.
Other Glovo Clusters/teams can easily build applications on top of it.
The Infrastructure Storage team in the Platform Cluster manages critical components.
MySQL databases, Redis clusters, and Kafka for event streaming.
We ensure highly available, reliable, and secure storage systems.
Additionally, we maintain a crucial library for developers to interact with Kafka, abstracting away complexities like polling, retrying, error handling, and networking, which accelerates developer productivity.
THE JOURNEY Lead up to 10 engineers form different backgrounds and seniority Be accountable for all things in your team including the delivery of projects, quality of the implemented solutions, hiring and the performance of your team Work closely with the product manager of your team to prioritize the right things and ensure engineering needs are also being worked on Make sure your team is building things the right way and always keeping quality at the forefront of what you do Be the contact point for your team and ensure you shield your team from distractions while still keeping them informed of the priorities Lead by example and motivate your team while bringing in new ideas on how to improve their way of working You enjoy seeing your team members grow and helping them achieve their goals and enjoy mentoring and coaching You will have strong leadership skills and understand what makes engineers tick WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE RIDE   Demonstrated experience in leading teams and coaching/mentoring engineers You have delivered on complex, large scale projects You are capable of being hands-on when needed and can help the team in technical discussions where it makes sense You have the technical chops to design & architect systems that are scalable and maintainable and thrive on seeing good, high-quality deliverable You bring an empathetic, inclusive and curious attitude You care deeply about helping others achieve their goals, and become the best engineers they can be.
You are familiar with Cloud providers and Infrastructure as code, preferably AWS and Terraform.
You have experience operating distributed systems in production - scaling, tuning, performance and disaster recovery.
You have knowledge about Databases.
You have knowledge about event brokers, preferably Kinesis or Kafka, and their integration in a data driven organisation.
You have a strong bias towards action and getting stuff done What you’ll find when working at Glovo.
