Summary / Role Purpose   The Senior R&D Engineer is responsible for the development of software products and supporting systems.
In this role, the Senior R&D Engineer will use advanced technical and problem-solving skills to design, develop, and deploy software applications for on-prem and cloud platforms using containerization technologies.
Key Duties and Responsibilities  Participates in planning, architecture, and research around on-prem and cloud deployments.
Performs complex development activities that may require extensive analysis in areas including user experience, software design and solver research.
Performs complex bug verification, release testing and beta support for assigned products.
Researches problems discovered by QA or product support and develops solutions.
Researches and understands the marketing requirements for a product, including target environment, performance criteria and competitive issues.
May work with strategic customers or proxies to assess needs and develop solutions.
Works independently with minimal supervision and may take on some planning and mentoring responsibilities.
May be responsible for managing interns or co-ops but typically does not have direct reports.
Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience  BS in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or Quantitative Sciences with at least 5 years of commercial experience in software development.
At least 2 years of Python experience in a commercial setting.
Experience with REST APIs and Cloud services implementation and deployment.
Proficiency in automated testing and CI/CD practices.
Value-oriented, self-motivated, fast learner.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills  Excellent technical knowledge and commercial experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
Experience delivering reusable microservices and related client libraries for use by a large number of end-user applications across a range of deployment environments.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
Experience developing reusable microservices and related client libraries for use by a large number of end-user applications across a range of deployment environments.
Knowledge of or experience with Agile SDLC and DevOps processes and tools.
Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
