Context And Mission   Within the Earth Sciences Department of Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC-ES), led by Prof Francisco Doblas-Reyes, the climate variability and change (CVC) group, co-led by Dr Pablo Ortega and ICREA Professor Markus Donat, undertakes fundamental research to (1) understand climate variability and change, including for climate extremes, (2) investigate global biogeochemical dynamics, as well as the effectiveness and impacts of carbon removal technologies to mitigate climate change, (3) develop new Earth system modelling capabilities, and (4) improving our ability to simulate and forecast the climate variations from one month to multiple decades into the future, both at the global and regional scales.
The group is also part of the development team and a key user of the EC-Earth global climate model (http://www.
c-earth.
rg) and as such collaborates closely with all the members of the EC-Earth consortium.
CVC is looking for a research engineer or a scientist to work in the core modeling activities of the group.
Key Duties   Conduct NEMO+PISCES reproducibility studies on MN4 and other HPCs Coordinate the implementation of NEMO 4.
