The American Express Global Privacy Oversight team are trusted advisors on the American Express Data Protection & Privacy Principles.
We work to raise privacy awareness, drive compliance with both internal privacy policies and regulatory expectations across the organization and establish privacy as a strategic differentiator for the American Express brand.
As a second line of defense function, Global Privacy oversee, provide expertise in, and challenge the identification, management, and mitigation of privacy risks across the company in line with the privacy framework and the company’s vision to provide the world’s best customer experience every day.
This position, located in Madrid, reports to the Director, International Privacy (EMEA and LAC).
The successful candidate will be passionate about data protection, with deep subject matter expertise on automated decision making, data protection impact assessments and risk management in general.
They will be comfortable interacting with multiple stakeholders across a highly matrixed organization, and excellent analytical and communication skills to provide second-line oversight and risk management support to the credit and fraud risk organisation within American Express.
How will you make an impact in this role? The successful candidate will be responsible for.
Provision of privacy risk oversight management, strategic guidance and consultation to American Express businesses, with a focus on the credit and fraud risk organization Supporting the development, coordination and implementation of American Express’ global privacy program  Ensuring adherence to the enterprise privacy risk appetite globally through effective privacy oversight and second line of defence challenge  Partnering with Compliance and other stakeholders in overseeing privacy legal/regulatory change management  Fostering a culture of privacy at American Express by advocating for privacy-by-design, integration of the American Express Data Protection & Privacy Principles, accountability and sharing of best practices.
Minimum Qualifications 5 years relevant work experience The remit of this role is global, therefore proficiency in English (C1) is required.
Experience in privacy, compliance and/or risk management and oversight, including risk assessment and determining adequacy of operational risk controls  Deep understanding of data protection legal and regulatory requirements within Europe and appreciation of various cultural perceptions of privacy & data protection in different jurisdictions  Highly organized, analytical, with strong written and verbal communication skills and proficiency in managing multiple priorities simultaneously  Ability to build relationships, mobilize cross functional teams and work independently   Preferred Qualifications Experience at a financial services or other highly regulated company   Relevant professional qualifications preferred, e.
