We are looking for a Data Engineer.Within the New IT HUB Sales - Retail of the Future supporting the strategic Mercedes Benz Program we need a Data EngineerThe Data Engineer in Mercedes-Benz plays a critical role in developing and maintaining data pipelines, supporting program data mesh initiatives, and ensuring end-to-end data consistency. This role collaborates closely with product teams to facilitate the exchange of data products between blueprint applications.Description of role and responsibilities:Depending on the focus: Data preparation, data modeling, data science, reporting, and dashboarding.Develop and maintain data pipelines, including ETL processes, to support data integration, transformation, and loading.Specialize in program data mesh architectures, ensuring that data products are integrated as per program requirements.Collaborate with product teams to understand their data integration needs and facilitate the exchange of data products between blueprint applications.Implement data governance practices to ensure data consistency, quality, and traceability throughout the data lifecycle.Utilize industry-standard data engineering tools and platforms to support data engineering initiatives.Facilitate communication between data engineers, product teams, IT professionals, and other stakeholders to ensure effective data integration.Contribute to the continuous improvement of data engineering, data governance, and data integration processes within the organization.QualificationsEducation degree & technical experience:Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a STEM related field.Relevant certifications, such as AWS Certified Data Analytics - Specialty, or Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate are advantageous.A minimum of 5 years of experience in data engineering, including supporting program data mesh initiatives.Technical knowledge/Accountabilities:Proficiency in data engineering, ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes, data pipeline development, and data architecture.Strong understanding of data mesh architectures, modern data integration patterns, and data processing infrastructureExperience with industry-standard data engineering tools and platforms.Knowledge of data governance and data consistency practices.Designing, developing, and maintaining data pipelines to enable data analysis and reporting (including data cleaning and integration).Supporting deployment and monitoring of machine learning pipelines serving models in production.Setting up and maintaining storage infrastructure that serves the needs of Digital Analysts and Data Scientists.Writing, understanding, and maintaining high-quality code (e.g. Python).Experience (skills and years):5 years of proven experience in developing and maintaining data pipelines, ensuring data quality and reliability.Successful collaboration with cross-functional teams, supporting product teams in integrating data as per program data mesh.Demonstrated ability to facilitate the exchange of data products between blueprint applications.Expertise in ensuring end-to-end (E2E) data consistency, data lineage, and traceability.Knowledge of data governance, data lifecycle management, and compliance with data regulations.Secure data engineering and data science skills in Python, PySpark, and/or Databricks.Several years of experience in data analysis with SQL and data visualization using Power BI or similar tools.Industry knowledge and technological understanding (e.g., GenAI).English (Reading/Writing/Conversation):Proficient in English, both written and spoken.Knowledge of the German language is a plus.Other Preferences:In addition to technical expertise, the ideal candidate should possess a set of vital soft skills for the role, including agility to swiftly adapt to evolving situations, a strong sense of empowerment, fostering trust and inspiration, a co-creative mindset that thrives on collaborative innovation, a relentless drive to excel and achieve success, unwavering customer orientation aimed at continually delighting our clients, a deep-rooted sense of purpose, a pioneering spirit that embraces innovation, and a commitment to continuous learning to stay at the forefront of industry advancements.
