RESEARCH ASSISTANT IN COMPUTATIONAL SOLID MECHANICS

Description The Computational Solid Mechanics Group at IMDEA Materials Institute is seeking to fill a position of Research Assistant to work on Hybrid physics-based and data-driven models for computational solid and materials mechanics.
The researcher will work on the development of finite element models for complex thermomechanical processes and their surrogate approximation using machine learning methods.
In particular, the hired researcher will be involved in two publicly funded projects.
one will entail the modelling of additive manufacturing and the other one, the prediction of fatigue life of steels.
Both problems will involve using Statistics, Mathematics, Programming and Machine Learning.
The researcher will be enrolled in a PhD program and carry out his/her PhD dissertation while working at IMDEA.
Requirements Candidates should have strong analytical skills and hold a MSc in Engineering, Material Science, Mathematics, Computer Science, or Physics with an excellent academic record.
Additionally, successful candidates are expected to be fluent in spoken and written English and have programming experience in C++ and/or Python.

Conditions -- Full-time contract, including social security coverage.
