PREDOCTORAL RESEARCHER FOR OPEN EARTH MONITOR PROJECT

CREAF is seeking a predoctoral researcher, to develop a PhD thesis into Open Earth Monitor project (Open-Earth-Monitor - A cyberinfrastructure to accelerate uptake of environmental information and help build user communities at European and global levels) with ref.
HORIZON-CL-, financed by the Horizon Europe program and the European Union.
This contract is envisaged to start in September and will last until the end of the project in May , with a possible 4 th year if the budget allows it with another project.
The salary offered (gross) is stablished by the RD EPIF (Real Decreto , de 1 de marzo, por el que se aprueba el Estatuto del personal investigador predoctoral en formación).
- 1st and 2nd years (12 months).
56% of € each year.
- 3rd year (12 months).
60% of €.
*Salary from Group 1 (M3) of the salary table from the Convenio colectivo único para el personal laboral de la Administración General del Estado.
TASKS.
- To develop a PhD thesis in drought characterization, monitoring and modelling impacts on vegetation and involved ecosystems through the combination of Remote Sensing (vegetation and soil moisture) and in-situ data at some selected Mediterranean study regions.
- To align the PhD thesis with the methodology and expected outcomes of the EU-Drought monitor Task of the Horizon Europe Open Earth Monitor project.
- To contribute to the Open Science research through the FAIR data sharing principles.
- Enrolment in the GRUMETS research group activities.
- Main contribution as first author to manuscripts for scientific journals.
- Attending conferences, workshops or summer schools on the topic of this research.
- Fulfil any training activity required by the PhD program.
REQUIREMENTS.
- Bachelor’s degree in Ecology, Biology, Environmental Science, Geography, Physics or equivalent; Geodesy, Cartography, Forest, Agricultural Engineer or equivalent.
- Master’s degree (completed or ongoing) in Remote Sensing and GIS, Geodesy, Cartography, Terrestrial Ecology, Water Management or equivalent.
- Basic remote sensing and GIS skills.
- Advanced level of oral and written English.
ASSESSABLE CONDITIONS.
- Fluency in exposing ideas and discussing in public.
- Expertise in Terrestrial Ecology, Spatial Statistics or Water Management research topics.
- Experience in large times series of remotely sensed images processing.
- Advanced expertise in remote sensing and GIS.
- Experience in interoperability and standardization topics.
- Basic skills with batch processing, scripts, or computer languages.
- Working independently and in a team.
- High research motivation.
- Candidates who have a recognized disability and accredited equal to or greater than 33% will be prioritized, as long as the disability is compatible with the proper performance of the job.
