Context And Mission The BSC participates in the ADMIRE EU project that aims to explore malleability in HPC, with a focus on data.
BSC is developing and researching storage solutions for HPC systems to efficiently use new hardware options available (i.
., NVM and DCPMM) in today and future supercomputers.
Thanks to the collaboration with industry and European research centers, and as outcome of several European projects, we had developed several solutions that had become state of the art in the areas of adhoc filesystems and data schedulers.
Our research group is looking for a postdoc to lead, research and develop such solutions in the context of ADMIRE while proposing new ideas for new challenges.

s is embarking on an umbrella of large-scale projects to contribute in the BSCs next generation supercomputer, the Marenostrum 6 (MN6), which will be operational in , we search for a postdoc also to lead the porting of the storage software developed within the group.
The postdoc eventually will be able to lead the group Data Centric Computing and integrate the Storage systems group into it, while managing the new joined team and projects.
Key Duties Investigate adhoc filesystem optimizations for several applications using GekkoFS as adhoc filesystem.
Investigate about the I/O Scheduler concept using BSC NORNS data manager as key software.
Write scientific papers and actively participate in the search technical of new reports, collaborations.
Attend project meetings and lead WP leader duties.
Port storage software (GekkoFS, cargo) to RISC-V.
Port system call intercept methods to RISC-V.
Lead a BSC Group at Computer Science.
Search for financement and projects.
Requirements Education PhD on Computer Science Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience Expertise in C/C++ programming Expertise in low-level knowledge (Kernel and Storage APIs) Knowledge on new devices (NVM, DCPMM) Assembler knowledge Additional Knowledge and Professional Experience Knowledge in hashing and data movement techniques Knowledge in different HPC application I/O behaviour Competences Problem-solving, highly pro-active and result-oriented work attitude Capability to work with international partners Good communication skills.
