MEDICAL ADVISOR / MSL METABOLICS

As the global leader in complement biology, our Company developed and commercializes the first approved MEKi to treat patients with Neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) with Plexiform Neurofibromas.
Moreover, Alexion also commercializes Enzymatic replacement therapies for Lysosomal acid lipase deficiency (LAL-D) and Hypophosphatasia (HPP) among other indications and products.
The Metabolics Medical Advisor is a country-based position within International Medical Affairs whose focus is to perform specific medical activities – according to Alexion internal rules, as well external laws and regulations – aimed at ensuring that all relevant processes and functions within Alexion concerning Neurofibromatosis type 1, (NF1), Lysosomal acid lipase deficiency (LAL-D) and Hypophosphatasia  (HPP) have the necessary scientific and medical expertise and are used for the benefit of the patient, functions as external and internal key medical/scientific partners and therapeutic areas.
The Medical Advisor in Metabolics will provide scientific and medical support to customers and to the country teams in accordance with Alexion policies and processes to promote materials and activities.
He will also provide direct support to engagement activities with additional external stakeholders, The focus of this position is the support provided to the Metabolics MAM, providing leadership, insight and strategy to all Alexion activities, collaborating across functions, including ensuring the highest level of communication and education for all Alexion employees mainly in the management of the current base Business and the operational support provided to the Metabolics MSLs.
Build relationships with Thought Leaders and healthcare professionals and stakeholders, including patient groups (under coordination of Patient Advocacy).
Externally, the Metabolics Medical Advisor will engage with the Thought Leaders involved in the specific TAs, in order to understand the disease, the patient journey, the current treatment algorithm and agree with them the key medical activities to be successfully delivered for patients benefit.
The Metabolics Medical Advisor will report to the Medical Affairs Manager, Metabolics.
Principal Responsibilities Gather and provide strategic insights together with MSL to help defining the Diseases Plans aligned to the TA Medical Strategy To ensure that market insights are used to inform all products in development and strategy deliverables of the Metabolics therapeutic area.
To provide scientific direction for the development of assets in the Metabolics therapeutic area.
Lead the development and execution of local medical activities, observational studies and projects.
Provide support on the ISRs and ESRs requests Responsible for establishing a close collaboration with Global and International Med Affairs Functions in the Metabolics area to provide value to the local and international structures inside Alexion.
Responsible for Developing and providing medical presentations to different stakeholders (internal and external).
To leverage relationships with external customers to ensure robust physician and patients’ insights are what drive successful product launches.
To interface with internal and external stakeholders to enhance the scientific and clinical understanding of the brands in the therapeutic area.
Support of the field and office staff regarding medical and scientific questions.
Serve as scientific peer-to-peer resource to Meta+ disease experts.
Educate the  medical community with up-to-date medical and scientific information and exhibit robust disease expertise and product information.
Providing objective and balanced medical/ scientific information for both internal and external customers, including Medical Information activities.
Active participation in the brand team and Cluster Teams when appropriate.
Active support and close collaboration with the cross-functional team of the Metabolics therapeutic area.
Marketing, Market Access, Medical Operations, Clinical Operations, Early Scientific Engagement (MAPs), Regulatory, Compliance, Legal, Customers Operations, Pharmacovigilance & Quality assurance.
Lead the organization and Execution of Advisory Boards, Standalone meetings, Investigator meetings, Symposiums, Preceptorships and other Scientific exchange meetings.
Responsible for planning and organizing medical training for relevant target groups including Alexion employees.
Medical and scientific contribution in the development of the Metabolic disease area product claims that will be used in the promotional materials through active participation in the cross-functional team.
Support local promotional activities by reviewing and approving marketing materials to ensure compliance within the local regulatory frame.
To ensure that the content of the promotional materials is relevant, medically and scientifically correct, that materials are presented in the appropriate context and are compliant with the corresponding local code of practice.
In cooperation with Global Scientific Communications responsible for developing and implementing a local publication plan based on local and global strategies, including activities such as dissemination of international and local data through local congresses and key events.
Responsible for developing medical/ scientific abstracts and publications.
Work in close cooperation with Medical Operations, to track and drive Medical Plans and Budget execution in Metabolics.
Provide Medical / scientific support to clinical operations (COM) in the conduction of (global and local) clinical studies as well as in the determination of clinical trial centers and investigators for additional clinical studies.
Liaise with MAP (Medical Adviser Pipeline) to ensure coordination of initiatives related with COM and with country Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs).
Support the implementation of disease registries.
Establish, develop, and maintain close relationships with opinion leaders (OLs).
Develop and maintain peer-to-peer collaborations with key medical experts in TA Area within the assigned region and become recognized as a consultant on Meta+ Indications.
Ensure that internal and external legal and regulatory guidelines are followed and implemented.
National and international travel required.
Qualifications Broad experience in the Pharmaceutical / Biotechnology industry in a medical role Experience in Metabolic diseases and Oncology fields is a plus Previous experience as a Medical Advisor or similar role is a plus Previous experience in rare diseases is a definite plus Previous experience in managing Teams is a plus Proven capacity to.
