The Healthcare Policy & Advocacy Director (SCG) works with Johnson&Johnson Innovative Medicine focus areas to develop and implement strategic business and local advocacy in response to the changing policy environment and to help ensure access to Johnson&Johnson Innovative Medicine (J&J IM) products.
The Healthcare Policy and Advocacy Director will accomplish these goals by cultivating, engaging, and informing key advocates within their assigned state/s.
The Director will develop and lead relationships with Key Advocacy Leaders (physician and patient advocacy organizations, individual key advocacy leaders and regional employer coalitions).
In partnership with Johnson & Johnson Government Affairs & Policy (state and Federal), they will coordinate, educate, and mobilize around key legislative priorities impacting patient access.
Responsibilities Provide healthcare policy and advocacy support to Johnson&Johnson Innovative Medicine’s focus areas.
Oncology, Immunology, Neuroscience, Cardiology, Pulmonary Hypertension, and Retina.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with Key Advocacy Leaders (KALs), state physician societies, patient advocacy organizations, regional employer coalitions, and other key advocacy stakeholders within assigned geography.
Participate in strategic planning for developing key policy priorities with internal and external partners.
Creation and execution of strategic advocacy plans concerning policy/legislative issues and payer policies in assigned geography.
Provide Federal and State policy education to advocacy organizations and KALs within assigned geography.
Evaluate and manage sponsorship opportunities within budget to support local patient organizations, physician societies, and regional employer coalitions for activities related to patient and provider access.
Lead and coordinate activities with a large number of internal stakeholders (sales, marketing, medical affairs, etc.) as single point of contact for advocacy organizations- especially pursuant to Federal and State policies and Medicare specific issues.
Build relationships with Medicare Administrative Contractors and monitor activities that impact patient and provider access to J&J IM products.
Partner regularly with Johnson & Johnson Government Affairs & Policy (State and Federal) to stay informed about current and future legislative developments, understand the impact on J&J IM products, and help shape the future healthcare environment.
Qualifications Qualifications Minimum of a bachelor’s degree is required, Masters/MBA in related field is preferred.
Minimum of eight (8) years of experience with health policy development, physician medical societies, patient advocacy organizations, employer coalitions, third party payers, pharm/bio sales or marketing, or related Healthcare Policy is required.
Experience in working with complex markets such as.
biologics, injectable, infusible, and oral Oncology, Immunology, Neuroscience, Cardiology, Pulmonary Hypertension, and Retina is preferred.
Expertise in government policy development process is preferred.
Understanding of complexities and impact associated with the changing health care environment at the local (MN/WI) and nation level is required.

., IRA, PDABs, 340B, Utilization Management, PBM Reform, Biosimilar policy, Quality, ASP, Part D, Fee-for-Service vs.
Managed Medicare/Medicaid, Medicaid/Medicare, Medicare Administrative Contractor policies and guidelines is preferred.
Strong verbal/written communication skills and ability to demonstrate effectively communicate of technical information is required.
Demonstration of strong skills in strategic planning, execution, and ability to manage complexity of collaboration with numerous cross-functional teams and partners (internally and externally) is required.
Ability to manage a defined territory budget is required.
This a field-based position supporting the MN/WI territory, and will require up to 60% domestic travel, including evenings and weekends is required.
