HEALTH DATA ENGINEER

As the company is rapidly scaling, STALICLA is looking to recruit a Health data engineer to support the next stages of the company’s development. PositionTitle: Health data architect / engineer Location: World Trade Center, Barcelona Duration: PermanentSalary: Competitive - depending on experience and profile Candidates living in Barcelona or EU and able to relocate rapidly will be favored.The role·      Developing web-based services using RESTful APIs and GraphQL tailored for clinical and research purposes·      Database development and management, using SQL (preferentially) or NoSQL (such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB or equivalent)·      Processing large scale biomedical and clinical data, ranging from implementing and running Python ETL pipelines for heterogenous health data, to optimizing complex database queries and structures in PostgreSQL·      Designing and implementing ETL data ingestion pipelines using relational databases and Rest APIs·      Monitoring and ensuring the reproducibility of the pipelines running locally and, on the cloud, as well as the traceability of changes·      Creating and enforcing policies (SOPs) for effective data management·      Formulating management techniques and procedures (SOPs) for quality data collection to ensure adequacy, accuracy, legitimacy and reproducibility of data·      Coordinating data collection, including interacting with CROs·      Curating, organizing, storing and backing up data and ensuring it adheres to the established quality standards·      Establish rules and procedures (SOPs) for data sharing with external collaborators.·      Support others in the daily use of implemented data systems·      Defining, implementing and monitoring standard processes for QMS·      Ensure digital databases and archives are protected from security breaches and data losses Work environmentThe STALICLA DDS office at the World Trade Center is located by the sea, overlooking the port of Barcelona and has easy access to public transportation. Perks at the office include free coffee, tea, and fresh fruits. Your profile·      Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent – through a combination of education and work experience).·      Proficient coding skills in Python, Javascript/Typescript, R and/or Java.·      Experience on backend development (Djando and/or NodeJS) and distributed/federated data management.·      Experience in OOP, CI/CD, TDD as well as demonstrable clean coding skills.·      Mid-high level understanding of software & database design and architecture.·      Previous experience in using Linux, shell scripting, Git(Lab), Docker.·      Experience in design and maintenance of databases and data warehouses in PostgreSQL.·      Cloud computing (AWS preferred, AWS Aurora, Redshift, ElasticBeanstalk, Data Sync).·      Experience writing ETL pipelines (familiarity with frameworks such as Hadoop / Spark / AWS Glue / AWS Batch is a plus).·      Knowledge on orchestration tools (Airflow or equivalent).·      Knowledge on medical ontologies and vocabularies.·      Experience on backend development (Django and/or NodeJS) is a plus.·      Experience on Nextflow (both on-premises and cloud) is a plus.·      Experience with machine learning, text mining and NLP is a plus In addition, the candidates are expected to have:·      Strong interpersonal, communication, presentation, reporting skills·      Good verbal and written communication skills in English·      A high comfort level working in a high paced start-up environment, where a pragmatic, resourceful, well organized, and effective approach is required with limited resources·      A passionate, energetic, and enthusiastic personality that will ensure commitment to the company and its vision  More about STALICLA…Ready to join a science-driven, international, multidisciplinary, passionate, hard-working, and meritocratic environment?
