Footwear Designer Team Lead

THE ROLE
We are seeking a talented and experienced Footwear Designer Team Lead with a strong design background, a keen eye for detail, a focus on quality and the ability to push the boundaries of contemporary Fashion. This role consists in interpreting Alohas brand essence and transforming it into innovative designs for our customers. Reporting to the Head of Design, your responsibility will be to lead the Footwear Design team and participate actively in the design process from concept to the final product and ensure alignment with brand aesthetics and market trends.
YOUR CHALLENGE:
Design & Product Development
• Conduct market research to identify emerging trends, consumer preferences and competitor activity
• Participate actively with your team to interpret trend reports and prepare mood boards and collection briefings, to set the framework for the following Footwear collection
• Conceptualise and create innovative footwear designs in line with our collection briefing
• Research and source new materials, shapes and finishings
• Develop detailed sketches, technical drawings and tech packs in order to brief factories and suppliers with all new products
• Communicate with manufacturers throughout the whole development process, from the first design to the approved sample to translate designs into final product
• Collaborate with the whole product team to ensure manufacturability of the finished product
• Present design concepts and collections to other teams incorporating feedback and revisions as needed.
• Stay updated on technological advancements in footwear design, both in materials as well as tools
• Oversee the quality control process, ensuring that all designs meet brand standards and customer expectations
• Continuously seek ways to improve design processes, materials, and production techniques
• Participate in trade shows, fashion events, and industry exhibitions to gather inspiration and insights
• Work closely with cross-functional teams including product, marketing, sales and production to ensure on time cohesive product development.
Team Leadership
• Lead, mentor, and manage a small team of designers, providing guidance and support in their professional development
• Foster a collaborative and creative work environment, encouraging innovation and teamwork in line with ALOHAS values
• Coordinate and oversee team projects according to range plan and ensuring a timely and high-quality delivery
YOU WILL ROCK AT THIS ROLE IF…
• Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Industrial Design, or a related field
• 5+ years of experience in footwear design, with a strong portfolio showcasing innovative and commercially successful designs
• Proven experience in people management, with the ability to lead and inspire a team
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced
• Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop
• Strong understanding of footwear construction, materials, and manufacturing processes.
• Excellent sketching, drawing, and visualization skills
• Strong market awareness and trend forecasting abilities
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Experience in 3D design tools and AI software would be a plus
