ENGINEERING MANAGER

Qualifications:EDUCATION: bachelor’s degree in information systems, Computer Science or related field EXPERIENCE: 5+ years managing development teamsHands-on experience with Agile (Scrum or XP) and test & behavior driven development, continuous integration, and version control KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:Demonstrable experience in developing software applications.Related DevOps tools experience a plus (e.g. Jira, Confluence, Sonar, Jenkins etc)Experience in managing teams responsible for building scalable and highly available distributed systems.Strong problem-solving abilities and capable of articulating specific technical topics or assignmentsExperience in breaking down problems and estimate time for development tasks.Soft skills: understanding and planning. Must: 3-5 years managing software development teams, 3-5 years of software background, background as developer and understanding about code, experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum), troubleshooting production system experience, strong understanding of requirements and also planning.Desirable: .NET background preferably OR Java background, DevOps tools experience (Jira, Confluence, Sonar, Jenkins).Responsibilities: Manages a national team of engineers, potentially a cross national. Support the team and help develop career and development paths for the team. Communicate effectively both within immediate team and leadership. Ensure team receives consistent messages and has clear understanding of business direction, strategy, and results.Support and implement organization’s initiatives. Mentor junior resources and provide guidance ensuring all development standards and practices are adhered to.Pursue continuous improvement in development processes, standards, and quality. Coach, mentor and lead a diverse group of lean/agile software engineers.Work directly with stakeholders to understand business and technical needs. *Day by day activities
