Lead Engineer – Remote Handling IRTF and JET Repurposing programmes (Jan. 2019 – Present) - In charge of the project definition, progress monitoring, quality of deliverable and budget. - Define, plan, and manage the work of a cross functional team of up to 4 people (i.e. draught people, junior engineers, operation engineers and scoping work for analyst). - Report to senior management and customer about progress, risks, and delivery strategy. - Liaison with internal stakeholders including the design authority, operations engineers, and business development officers, among other experts. - To demonstrate compliance with ITER Organization qualification criteria, I gained the expertise on the necessary codes and standards (i.e. PED and ASME B31.3) to justify the hydraulic design of the piping system, including a hydrostatic pressure test. - Developed and managed a close working relationship with critical component supplier to ensure the successful delivery and integration of their product in our application. - Technical advisor and reviewer of analysis and technical justifications for other projects at RACE. - Co-authored a chapter on remote maintenance for a fusion technology textbook, soon to be published by the International Atomic Energy Agency. Analyst – EU DEMO Remote Handling fusion programme (Oct. 2017 – Dec. 2018) - Performed the structural assessments of the DEMO blanket transporter. This represents a plant defining risk defining the remote maintenance scheme for DEMO, and a driver for key programme design decisions. The blanket transporter concept is a 70-ton hybrid kinematic manipulator used to perform complex remote handling operations. The assessments ranged from first principle calculations (implementing an OCTAVE/MATLAB script to automate free body equations) to the development of FEA models (using ANSYS) for static, transient and seismic evaluations. - As a key programme deliverable, I defended my evaluation result and recommendations in a design review involving senior staff from EUROfusion and the European Commission. This work led to my participation in the 13th International Symposium on Fusion Nuclear Technology in Kyoto - Japan. Integration officer – EU DEMO Remote Handling fusion programme (Oct. 2016 – Dec. 2017) - Developed conceptual designs for the European DEMO ports remote maintenance scheme. I define the functional requirements and interfaces to develop an integrated port configuration in CAD, with credible maintenance schemes. One configuration was then recommended base on a risk. - Coordinate work with other collaborating teams form European research institutions in Italy (ENEA), Finland (VTT) and Germany (KIT) to ensure integration of the in port systems.

- Developed the recovery strategy and systems of JET remote maintenance equipment to ensure a robust maintenance scheme for maintenance campaigns with the increased radiation levels expected following the JET Deuterium-Tritium Experiment 2 (DTE2). - Studied the compatibility of well-established welded seal solutions in JET with ITER more demanding requirements and standards (i.e. RCC-MRx) to assess their suitability to the Neutral Beam top lid, source lid and front-end components. - Member of the design team within two ITER grants, the Neutral Beam and the Divertor pipe cutting and welding tools, undertaking market research, component design and selection. - Responsible for the alignment tool prototype commission and testing, and the Operational Sequence Description for the ITER Neutral Beam cutting and welding grant demonstration. - Supported JET maintenance operations team with equipment development, and inspection including access to controlled areas (i.e. Radiation or Beryllium risk present).
