Job opportunities in tourism

The position helped me gain not only experience within the hotel industry but also a taste of the hotel and tourism atmosphere and groundwork, while developing essential skills such as: a high level of accuracy, attention to details; excellent customer service acumen; organization (working with on a tight time frame); strengthening the ability to work under pressure, as well as problem solving skills.

The intensive project consisted in obtaining innovative solutions and proposals for actions for each one of the            selected issues of the 10 participating companies.  It allowed me to translate knowledge into practice  and create value through interaction with others.  Skills and competences acquired:  ✓ teamwork in a diverse environment ✓ public speaking - presenting the final product in finals ✓ work under pressure  ✓ work under tight time frame and strict deadlines ✓ extended hours of participation.

Alongside with the regular responsibilities, the position included a series of extra duties such as developing, verifying and keeping track of the inventory, communicating with other stakeholders such as merchandise providers, as well as placing orders according to need and verifying the content upon arrival, forecast customer needs in terms of restocking according to trends (seasonal products specific sales). Skills and competences acquired: good communications skills, well-versed in collecting payments for customer purchases, ability to operate cash register and manage drawer, ability to respond and resolve customer’s requests and concerns, experienced in displaying and restocking merchandise up-selling relevant products and services.
