Esl teacher

I am currently teaching English as an intern at the school Lope de Vega, in Sevilla as part of an Erasmus scheme. I am teaching primary/early secondary age students and preparing them for their Cambridge examinations. I am very much looking forward to this experience, and very grateful for this opportunity.

In association with the University of Catalunya, I studied at the University of Catalunya in order to gain my TEFL Certificate in ESL Teaching. This accompanied teaching at a semi-private school in Barcelona, in order to practically deliver the skills acquired in the course at the University. At the school, I taught students aged 3 – 15 (from Infantil to ESO), while also tutoring the teachers and the headteacher. I also began acquiring experience in the Cambridge speaking examination, through learning and partaking in the practice of this. I thoroughly enjoyed being part of this school’s community, while progressing my teaching experience. All the while, this both reiterated and confirmed my desire to become an English teacher. 

In association with the University of Leeds, I volunteered as a secondary school teaching assistant in English classrooms. The school had an inclusive sixth from which meant I had the opportunity to teach in classrooms of ages ranging from 11-18. I worked very hard during this placement and have been offered future opportunities at the school due to my performance.

I studied at the university virtually while gaining my Teaching English as a Foreign Language Certificate, which was an enriching and eye-opening experience. I put the studies into practice while working and teaching English at a school in Barcelona.

I feel thoroughly grateful to have studied at the University of Leeds, as it is a leading Russel group university, based on worldwide leading research. I also feel grateful to have studied English Language and Literature here, due to its fantastic standard of learning and wonderful teaching professionals. During my degree, I spent my third year studying in Heidelberg, Germany. This was part of the Erasmus scheme, and while studying at Germany’s leading university, it allowed for new experiences and academic excitement.
