About the position

As a Staff Infrastructure Engineer, you will play a critical role in defining and implementing the vision for the Platform supporting Factorials growth for the years to come.

- Design and develop scalable software solutions that meet business requirements and enhance user experience.
- Lead technical discussions and provide guidance to junior engineers on best practices and coding standards.

- Perform code reviews to ensure code quality, maintainability, and performance optimization.
- Identify and troubleshoot software defects and implement effective solutions.

Requirements:

- Proven experience as a software engineer, with a strong background in software development methodologies, with experience in SaaS or startup environment being a plus.
- Expertise in programming languages, such as Java, Python, Ruby, or JavaScript.
- Experience with cloud platforms, such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
- Having been on the Tier 2 on-call rotation handling production incidents.
- Deep knowledge on MySQL administration (deploying, upgrading, fine tuning configuration for performance and stability) - in production
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
- Excellent communication skills in English.
- At least 10 years of experience working as a Systems/Infra Engineer, with a background as an application developer.
- You are based in Europe and can come by the office at least once in a quarter.

For this mid-level position, the annual gross salary is 86,250 . This includes a base salary of 75,000 and a variable pay of up to 11,250 annually (paid quarterly), depending on the companys goals and quality metrics.

The main application uses Ruby on Rails for the backend and React for the frontend. As a Staff Engineer we expect that you will be able to implement features across all of the stack, and this sometimes includes parts of the application (a middleware, or the local development setup). If you would not be comfortable with these tasks, you may still apply, and well evaluate you against the Senior+1 level, which means youre fully focused on the infrastructure only.

Your daily life with us

You will be a product-centric engineer (not a ticket-handling machine), taking ownership of mid and large-size initiatives, in parallel to routine maintenance or incident resolution work.

You will review code, and get feedback on your own code.

You will learn from the entire team, both on technical topics (performance, architecture...) and core skills, in an environment driven by engineering quality.

You will share your knowledge, through the RFCs you write, pairing sessions, our mentoring programme or the occasional appearance in the monthly Tech All Hands.
