Software Development Manager
Our Amazon Business Analytics (ABA) is growing and were looking for an experienced Software Development Manager (SDM) to manage a talented tech team in charge of the evolution of our Analytics and Insights feature set, including Generative AI capabilities, the discovery of new initiatives and the expansion of our solutions to international marketplaces. While we can rely on Amazons existing capabilities in user experience, convenience, selection, pricing and logistics, we need to re-invent core parts of the delivery experience to serve the needs of businesses and other institutional buyers - from the kinds of products we offer, to our fulfilment methods, to close integration with corporate purchasing systems.

The ABA Team is focused on building direct customer facing solutions and necessary backend services to enable businesses to Analyze spending with data visualizations that can help them make smart budgeting decisions, easily locate compliance issues, and find opportunities to save in the future. We are expanding our capabilities to include AI-powered spend pattern analysis, natural language interfaces for procurement insights, intelligent recommendations for cost optimization, and predictive analytics for budget forecasting. We help customers discover purchasing insights to help them meet their procurement goals through both traditional analytics and innovative AI-driven solutions.

Great candidates for this position possess a sound understanding of computer science and a passion to make a profound impact for our business customers. You will have the opportunity to apply this passion by leveraging your software development management skills leading medium to large projects involving distributed systems, web development, front-end/back-end design, and GenAI integration. You will collaborate with diverse business and technical partners, including Data Scientists, to shape our technology and drive AI adoption. You will be the voice of our customers, driving technological innovation to create an unparalleled business procurement experience powered by both traditional and AI-enhanced analytics.

Key job responsibilities

Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy

- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

- Experience building and deploying applications that integrate Generative AI capabilities, working collaboratively with Data Scientists to implement AI-powered features and functionalities

- Demonstrated ability to partner with Data Scientists to successfully translate AI/ML solutions into production-ready applications, including implementation of model serving infrastructure and API development
