Are you a robotic construction resercher, with a passion for design, manufacturing, and automation ? Are you a talented innovator looking to join an international and multidisciplinary research team based in Barcelona that wants to challenge the construction industry with new robotic processes? If yes, have a look at the new position of Robotic fabrication researcher at IAAC, the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia.In this role, you will have the opportunity to delve into research and educational projects that apply robotic fabrication, computational design, and advanced manufacturing towards a more sustainable built environment. As a robotic construction expert and researcher, you will be tasked with developing innovative manufacturing solutions that include custom digital fabrication process, creative design for manufacturing workflows, and specific architectural solution using robotics for prefabricated or onsite construction. You will also impart teaching activities, where the learning from the research will be shared with students and professionals, in particular within the context of the Master in Robotics and Advanced Construction (MRAC) at IAAC. Your work will entail close collaboration with architects, engineers, computational designers, material experts, roboticists, industry experts and craftspeople.Main Tasks:Research on novel robotic construction applicationsTeaching to master students & professionals. Development of applied research and Industrial applications.Technical support in related academic, research and professional projects.Topics include : Robotic & Digital Fabrication for sustainable construction.Sensor feedback in fabrication with natural & recycled materials. Design for Manufacturing & Architectural performance.Advanced Manufacturing & Materials. Human-Machine Interaction in construction.Robotic scanning for building renovation. Skills required :Willing to learn, motivated, enthusiastic and social. Motivated to work in an innovative, multidisciplinary, and collaborative environment.Autonomous, able to take on responsibilities.Knowledgeable in manufacturing, industrial robotics, computational design & automation for the construction industry. Confident with computational design (Rhino3D, Grasshopper3D), digital fabrication (Laser, Milling, 3D Printing) industrial robot (KUKA, ABB, UR) and coding (Python, ROS)Experience with open source hardware (Raspberry Pi, Pico, Arduino)Previous experience in Academia and Industry (more than 6 year)Optional skillsFamiliarity with Autonomous roboticsFamiliarity with Sensing technology & Point cloud computing. Familiarity with Human-Machine interaction & XRTravel enthusiast (in Europe or in the world).
