What is The Role This is a Software Engineer II role on our Performance Engineering team.
This team ensures that the products we deliver to customers meet the scaling and performance expectations of our customers.
The team focuses largely on comparative benchmarking but also conducts ad-hoc experiments and investigations of potential performance bottlenecks.
What You Will Be Doing Contribute to performance evaluation frameworks written in Python and Golang.
Build automation and orchestration tooling to facilitate testing our products at scale.
Analyze performance characteristics of our software products and propose potential areas of optimization.
Be a part of a Center of Excellence for software performance and scalability in Elastic and act as a trusted advisor to other teams about how to build software in production with a performance-oriented mindset.

You should understand the value of adhering to standards and you should know when simple solutions are best and when to think outside the box.
The ideal candidate should have experience running software in production at large scale and understand the inherent challenges that come with ultra-large deployments.
The kind of background you should have includes.
Practical experience with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
Comfort with basic cloud infrastructure tasks such as VM provisioning, object storage, working with instance types and local storage options, and creating or using custom VM images.
Basic familiarity with operating Kubernetes clusters (cloud-managed or self-hosted), including deploying applications, managing workloads, and working with Helm charts.
