MISSION ANALYSIS SENIOR ENGINEER

DEIMOS is selecting a senior engineer to be integrated in the Earth Observation Mission Analysis Competence Centre of the Mission Engineering Business Unit.The work of the EOMA CC is oriented to supporting the design of single-spacecraft or constellation-based space missions, mainly oriented to Earth observation, by providing orbital solutions and assessing the performance of the mission. Our main clients are ESA, commercial customers and internal developments. Additionally, we also develop software tools for mission analysis studies and do research in celestial mechanics and astrodynamics.As a matter of reference, current DEIMOS activities comprise:Interplanetary missions (planets, astronomy, minor bodies, etc.)Earth observation and lunar missionsPlanetary DefenceFormation flying Autonomous in-orbit rendezvous Space transportation systems and re-entry vehiclesPlanetary entry, descent and landingFunctional engineering simulators (FES) to support the GNC design process, and real-time test benches (RTTB) for real-time performance assessment.Main Duties:The following types of responsibilities are envisioned:Support management of projects with institutional and commercial customers in the frame of mission analysis and navigationSupport the preparation of proposal and commercial actionsProvide expertise in the domains of mission analysisPlay an active role in fostering the consolidation of the engineering processes and promoting technology research, innovation and development actionsEducation:Required: M.Sc. in Aerospace EngineeringProfessional Experience:3-5 years’ experience in space sector (PhD studies would also be considered)Strong technical background in orbital mechanics and astrodynamics Experience in space projects and proposals preparationTechnical Requirements:The following skills are required for the post:Classical mechanics and algebra theoretical backgroundHigh knowledge of orbital mechanics and astrodynamicsKnowledge of optimisation and estimation theory and techniquesOther skill desired for the post are:Software engineering methods and techniquesProgramming languages: Python, C++, Fortran, MatlabLanguage Skills:Excellent level of English, spoken as well as writtenPersonal Skills:High motivationInitiative and autonomy to solve complex problemsResponsibility towards the customer and teammatesWilling to work in groupsRef.: HRRECRUIT-874
