Job Description The role involves close relationship with the invested companies and the operations, as well as the different functional areas across the business (IT, Marketing, Maintenance, Capex, Admissions, etc).
Direct contact with the CEO is required for Budgeting process and ad-hod requests and analysis.
In addition to the above, the role provides an exciting opportunity to drive improvement and efficiency of current processes within the Finance team and with other teams, as the Company continues to grow both organically and through extensive acquisition.
This role is embedded within the Spanish small but busy Head Office team working where demands vary from day to day, so flexibility of working practices and the ability to react to a variety of ad-hoc situations, either as part of a team or under your own initiative, are essential.
Lead the preparation of monthly management accounts.
Submit cohesive and accurate accounts to Group on time for all Spanish entities and guarantee compliance with international accounting standards.
Own the numbers, understand performance and business trends.
Prepare the Spain Reporting Pack and respective explanations for key variances to budget and prior year and provide useful insight to management and senior leadership.
Communicate results to the invested companies heads and functional managers, maintain a close relationship with them and exchange relevant information.
Lead the budgeting and forecasting processes for Spain in order to meet Group deadlines and expectations.
Guarantee invested companies and functional managers involvement in the process and alignment with the final budget.
Work closely with the transactional accounting team and guarantee segregation of duties and process control.
Develop, train and manage best in class team.
Support Finance staff with the transition of acquired businesses to group accounting policies.
Support conducting of Balance Sheet reviews.
Reply to Group's Ad-hoc queries accurately and on time.
The Successful Applicant Qualified Accountant with 5yrs+ post qualified experience.
Big 4 +3yrs audit experience.
Experience on complex multi-location groups, managing numerous different fiscal entities.
Experience in invested companies or in Private Equity companies.
Advanced Excel skills with proven experience of working with large Excel based financial models.
Strong knowledge of IFRS and Spanish GAAP technical accounting.
Working knowledge of Cognos Controller / TM1 or similar consolidation system is preferred.
Excellent written and verbal skills in English and Spanish.
Capacity to lead, motivate and build confidence in the team.
Well organized with capacity to manage time wisely, to prioritize and be realistic in planning.
Strong end to end process management skills with strength of character and gravitas to enforce disciplines and excellence whilst maintaining a flexible and adaptable overall approach.
A pro-active self-starter with the drive, determination and commitment to get things done.
Autonomous, capacity to take initiative and 'Can do' attitude with a willingness to solve problems and tackle new challenges.
