DESTINATION STEWARDSHIP DIRECTOR

This dynamic leadership role will drive global action for integration destination stewardship in a hospitality company, work closely with other sustainability leadership to achieve holistic sustainability actions, and lead a team of destination stewards globally to represent the voice of the communities and residents in our destinations to adjust and align the sustainability strategy to drive positive change. The Director of Destination Stewardship will help forge landmark public-private partnerships themselves and through their teams to drive the fulfillment of Iberostar’s Agenda 2030.As the Destination Stewardship Director, reporting to the Global Sustainability Office Director, your main responsibilities will be:Creating new systems and products to integrate destination stewardship within a hospitality context. These can include but are not limited to:Establishing and maintaining materiality assessments at a destination level to capture the priorities and needs of communities to adjust sustainability strategies.Creating protocols and guidelines for procurement of local products and services to support regenerative production and regenerative tourism within destination.Producing scalable business cases for the justification of the value add for destination stewardship models in a multi-national hospitality context.Managing partnerships and projects with multiple stakeholders within and outside of the organization. Candidates should have skills in action oriented results in pre-competitive collaborative environments.Regular reports on successful case examples of implementation of destination stewardship programs for broader strategic communication.Excellent stakeholder engagement, within the organization and in public-private partnerships:Leverage existing networks to refine and promote the role hospitality can play in destination stewardship.Provides thought leadership and adjustment to destination stewardship functions relative to emerging trends in destination stewardship.Managing multiple priorities of diverse stakeholders to achieve common positive outcomes.Establishment and maintenance of communication systems to inform of the progress of destination stewardship and the needs of hotels and corporate stakeholders.Team leadership and collaboration:Excellent management of a team of diverse destination stewards who manage projects, support pre-competitive collaboration, establish round-tables, and maintain relationships with local public and private entities.Strong integration of team and functions with other areas of the sustainability department including sustainability governance, data and reporting, generation of tools & resources, coastal health, and communications relations.Effectively manages career trajectory for destination stewards and destination stewardship model within a multinational hospitality context.Who is the ideal person for this job?The ideal person for this role has strong leadership skills in an intercultural environment, with a focus on results and motivation, as well as excellent negotiation and empathic skills and a high capacity to adapt to people, environments and situations.Studies:University studies in Science (Biology, Marine sciences, Physics...), Engineering or similar ideally.Master's degree in Sustainability or international development.Experience / Background:12+ years of experience in pre-competitive collaborative environments between public and private sector.Deep knowledge of the travel & tourism sector with focus on DMOs and ministries of tourism; knowledge of hospitality a plus.Proven professional experience in successful community engagementPrior experience in working with DMOs or Ministries of Tourism.Languages: Fluency in Spanish and English is required;Portuguese and French is a plus.Tools: Google Workspace G-Suite,Dashboard PowerBi;Willingness to travel frequently.Our proposal for you:We offer you the opportunity to be part of a great company and develop your career with us and enjoy:Attractive salary package and company benefits.You will be part of our Iberostar Vitality community, with access to a multitude of wellness activities.Smart working: flexible working hours, hybrid-work model (based in Palma de Mallorca ideally or in Spain).Opportunity for progression and career growth within the company: variety of opportunities and projects that will allow you to develop your potential and grow professionally every day.Work in an inspiring environment that is committed to people, values and a responsible tourism model.We will be happy to provide you with more information about the position and learn more about your profile and expectations! #WeAreIberostar
