Due to a structured succession planning process, there is a demand for a COUNTRY MANAGER (Sector.
Retail / Franchise) We are currently looking for a new Country Manager Spain to ensure that the company continues its challenging growth agenda.
Key focus areas for the Country Manager are.
Further improvement of same store sales growth, with focus on quality of leadership and quality of sales staff.
Develop store presence in all target regions and expand the store network.
Build the strongest possible country team and franchisee team.
The country manager will use tools such as a state-of-the-art digital marketing programme, crisp commercial showrooms adapted to the local area, strong promotional campaigns, and innovative new range concepts in the sector.
At the same time there will be increased focus on improving the effectiveness of store operations, simplifying life in store and providing more focus on the sales side, with the implementation of new customer journey and store digitalisation Future programme.
Required profile The Country Manager (CM) will report to the European Market Director.
He or she will be responsible of a team of Retail Consultants and will work closely together in a matrix setup with a dedicated Marketing Manager and Retail Controller for Spain.
The CM will lead the franchised store network in Spain.
The new Country Manager Spain will act as business unit responsible for the specific business area within the company, and he or she will have own P/L responsibility.
The business area Spain is an important growth engine for the company in the coming years.
The candidate’s main purpose is to build and develop the sales across the Spanish market through existing and new stores.
There is substantial further growth potential in this market.
Furthermore, the Country Manager Spain must build and develop a strong and efficient organization, and the candidate will have to build and establish strong relationships with franchisees and decision makers internally as well as externally.
The new Country Manager Spain will be responsible for setting the right market strategy, and he or she will have to lead the implementation of key initiatives on country level.
It is crucial that the new Country Manager Spain follows-up on the given strategy, and he or she will drive and monitor the execution of the country plan in order to achieve the set objectives and KPI's.
The ideal candidate has significant international experience and a proven track record from dealing with the Spanish retail business.
He or she understands the critical success factors in retail.
The candidate is capable of motivating and leading both own team as well as the teams in the franchised store network – and also understands the importance of leading franchisees different from how leadership is performed in a capital chain.
The candidate is capable of handling the complexity of a market with 20+ franchise stores, of a complex growth agenda in a competitive and dynamic market and within an international context.
With the full P/L responsibility comes budget planning, forecasting as well as business plans, handling of contracts, monitoring and development of best practices within sales and customer satisfaction.
He or she is the key driver in developing a strong store network with professional franchisees and high performing sales teams.
Area of responsibility P/L responsible for own business area, fulfil sales budgets and ensure profitable growth.
Leading the country organization and franchisees to maximize sales and customer satisfaction and to ensure that the right organization and structure is in place for delivering the objectives.
Building great relationships with the Multiple Franchisees.
Increase franchisees nominal gross margin and store EBIT.
Expand the store network in Spain.
Business reporting to the European Market Director.
Strengthening the brand and growing traffic in stores.
Build winning teams both in his/her own organisation and in the franchise stores.
This should be executed by the following initiatives.
Increase sales - top and bottom line and increase market share.
Increase customer loyalty – increase store attention to order fulfilment and communication.
Continuously rethink the marketing and campaign approach.
Rethink how to service stores, segment stores and build clear action plans per store/ segment.
Strengthen internal and external communication of the set direction.
Set clear expectations for all employees and franchisees and provide mutual feedback.
Use clear KPI's in order to drive performance and growth.
Start structured development of competencies.
Language Fluent in Spanish and English.
Education Preferable Commercial degree at Master’s level or a Diploma from a business school or relevant university.
Professional Experience and Competences A minimum of 3-4 years leadership experience with Retail Store Management, B2C Consumer Sales, preferably managing sales and leading across a Spanish organization with full P&L responsibility.
Working experience in an international environment, exposed to different business cultures.
The ideal candidate comes from retail businesses focused on furniture, electric appliances, DIY, kitchen or bath.
Experience with franchise organizations - combined with a good understanding of retail business dynamics, both at store level and strategic level.
Proven results with growing profitable retail business units, driving change and conducting turnaround projects.
IT literate.
Knowledge of Navision or other ERP tools is a plus.
