SW/FW Product Assurance EngineerDEIMOS is selecting engineers for its Flight Software division, forming part of the Avionics Business Unit at our Tres Cantos premises.The work of the FSW division is oriented to the specification, design, development and validation of Embedded Software and Hardware systems for space vehicles, including GNC systems, GNSS, Image processing, verification facilities, etc.As a member of the Avionics Business Unit, you will work in a team of other highly skilled engineers across Europe (Spain, Portugal, UK, Romania), working on projects covering applications such as:Satellite rendezvous, in-orbit servicing (IOS) and active debris removal (ADR)Entry, descent, and landing on planets (Earth, Mars) & natural satellitesLaunch vehiclesEarth observation, upstream (flight segment) and downstreamInterplanetary exploration and navigationUnmanned autonomous vehicles (UAVs, UGVs)System and mission designThe selected candidates shall be integrated into an international team of highly qualified engineers and exceptional human quality. Likewise, Deimos’ transnational condition, could allow the candidate international mobility, developing his work from any of the company headquarters.Main Duties:The following responsibilities care envisioned:Contribution to the definition, implementation and continuous improvement of Software Product Assurance (PA) methods and techniques during the whole SW/FW development lifecycle.Contribution to the establishing of the programmatic and technical software and firmware PA requirements within the framework of the Company (or Customer) Software policy, including internal procedures, guides and instructions.Coordination with Engineering Quality, PA Manager and other Software QA and SW development engineers at Company level to integrate the SW/FW Product Assurance requirements within the relevant specifications at system and/or product level (HW + SW).Assess SW PA status of SW/FW related products from subcontractors and OTS suppliers.Evaluation of Suppliers/Subcontractors’ plans, technical specifications and efforts proposed for the execution of the SW PA programme.Support the Project Manager, PA&Safety Manager and Technical Manager in SW data packages review and delivery.Preparation, Monitoring and evaluation of relevant SW PA analyses, reports and technical notes.Participation in project reviews, meetings, Configuration Control Boards, Non-conformance Review Boards and Software Review Boards, as required.Preparation of design trade-offs, analyses and reports using metrics to support project, and applied PA policy, decisions.Participation in software/firmware product evaluations and process assessments.Establishment and maintenance of database/s to track Lessons Learnt, Recommendations, SPRs, NCRs, RFWs and action items, as required.The position will be tailored to the level of experience of the selected candidate.Education:Required: A recognized engineering degree (Computer Sciences, Electrical, Electronic, Telecommunications) with demonstrable experience in computer systems and software engineering.Appreciated: Postgraduate studies (M.Sc. or Ph.D.) with a focus on software engineering, real-time software or embedded systems design.Professional Experience:Required: Engineer with minimum experience of 3 years in the practical application of the domains relevant to the post, focused on space product assurance practices together with a good working knowledge of appropriate working tools. Experience obtained while obtaining relevant M.Sc. & PhD studies could also be considered as applicable for the position.Knowledge and proven experience in the following areas:Configuration management of complex systems.Software engineering and PA in critical applications.Able to work autonomously and in multidisciplinary teams.Application of ECSS SW standards.Technical Requirements:Required: The following capabilities are required for the position:Experience in the application of PA techniques and methods in critical (or safety critical) software following relevant standards (e.g. ECSS-Q-ST-80C, DO-178B/C).Knowledge of Dependability and Safety (RAMS) disciplines, FDIR implementation methodologies and HW-SW relevant analysis.Capability to support the software team along the project, contributing to the flow down of PA and QA techniques and methods to the SW/FW development and V&V process.Desired: Experience in some of the following fields is desired but not indispensable:Good programming skills (C, C++, plus potentially others as VHDL, Python or Ada) and knowledge of software configuration control and management (GIT, SVN).Knowledge of SW Coding Standards (MISRA-C) and SW/FW Development Standards (e.g. ECSS-E-ST-40C, ECSS-Q-HB series, ECSS-Q-60).SW and Systems design documentation methodologies and tools: UML, SysML.Knowledge of ISVV methodologies and SW DAL categorization. Appreciated: Experience or knowledge in any of the following would be viewed positively and considered as an asset for this position:Knowledge of SW Metrication tools, IDE and Agile methodologies.Familiarization with aerospace sector and/or safety critical software development.Agile practices.Model Based System Engineering / Model Based Mission Assurance.Quality assurance for Machine Learning models.Big Data software architectures and life-cycles.Data quality assurance.Cyber-security assurance and Ethical Hacking.Use and application of static code analysis (SCA) and tools.Language Skills:English (Native or High level, spoken and written).
