SUPPLIER DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER, STAFF

Implement, support, and manage Supplier Development needs and performance to enable superior supplier selection and continuous management process that guarantees flawless launches and the delivery of 0-defect and on-time components for series deliveries.
Responsibilities can include leading APQP process as part of new product launches, the coordination of technical reviews, and the development of supplier capabilities to meet BW’s requirements.
Responsibilities will also include conducting Supplier Quality training at the suppliers and driving performance improvements to meet established objectives.
KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES.
Implement the BorgWarner Supplier Development Process at assigned suppliers Support both regional and global needs in screening suppliers, program launch requirements (APQP), and series delivery under the direction of the Global Supplier Development Director and as determined necessary by BU and RU requirements Develop and maintain Quality System expectations including update and control of suppliers’ conformance to IATF , as required Conduct regular audits and special surveys at suppliers’ facilities evaluating manufacturing processes to determine adequacy and capability and ability to comply with all Quality Specifications Lead APQP process as part of New Product Introduction Drive performance improvements to the established objectives at suppliers and prepare relevant periodic reports Develop and implement Quality initiatives to improve cost, reduce PPM's, assist in resolution for CPM’s, and improve 8D response times Review Quality problems with Engineering personnel and coordinate cross functional technical problem resolution at supplier If necessary, apply Escalation Management process together with BU and RU representatives from Purchasing and Supplier Quality Provide and train standards for Supplier Quality and Continuous Improvement activities at the supply base, applying established procedures, lessons learned and best practices Analyze suppliers’ and sub-suppliers’ capacities and drive improvements when necessary to meet the needs of BW production requirements Visit potential new suppliers to assess their Quality Systems and production capabilities Provide input to Commodity Strategy Maintain and report summary status of suppliers with the supply base relative to Delivery, Capacity, Capability, Quality, and other criteria required to properly assess the ongoing capability of the supply base Support Technical Change Management (CM) in case of regional/global changes   QUALIFICATIONS.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE.
University degree (Bachelor or Master) in Mechanical, Industrial or Electrical Engineering or equivalent education or experience At least 5 years of experience in Quality, SCM, Operations, Manufacturing Engineering, Design Engineering, or related discipline in a Manufacturing Environment Experience in relevant production processes and technologies as Plastic injection/ Rubber Sealing manufacturing/ eActuator; If with experience of PCBA/ PCB or electron components (choke/ transformer/ diode/ PTC and NTC sensors/ IGBT/ etc.) or Motor would be  a plus etc.
Ability to interpret drawings and requirements for ensuring the adherence to agreed quality parameters Expertise in Quality Management System requirements such as APQP, FMEA, Control Plan, PPAP, Statistics, Problem Solving, SPC, Initial Sampling Process, Run@Rate Experience of Product and Process Audit Ability to apply and train suppliers in Problem Solving and Process Capability Tools     Preferred.

Certified Quality Engineer or national equivalent is a preferred certification Certified VDA 6.
