POWERPLANT TEAM LEAD

A leading airline is looking for a "Powerplant Team Lead" to be located in Madrid or Dublin.Job PurposeThe Powerplant Team Lead is responsible to manage a team of Powerplant Engineering Specialists and to ensure all CAMO activities are duly carried out in accordance with the latest regulatory requirements and company procedures.The airline operates a mixed fleet of leased and owned aircrafts and engines. These include both ETOPs and non-ETOPs fleets which operate in Europe and North America. The airline holds a variety of service management contracts with Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) providers repairing and overhauling the company’s Power Plants and APUs.The powerplant team includes both an asset management section focused on off-wing asset MRO management, and an on-wing, CAMO-activities related powerplant section, both directed by the Head of Powerplant and Asset Management.The Powerplant Team Lead will be responsible to run the on-wing CAMO Powerplant section and will report to the Head of Powerplant and Asset Management. The Powerplant Engineers will report to the Team Lead. The scope of work includes engines, nacelles and APUs.Main ResponsibilitiesThe main tasks include but are not limited to:Day-to-day supervision of the Powerplant team to ensure continuing airworthiness of the powerplant fleet.Responsible for ensuring the airworthiness of owned and leased engines, APUs and nacelles.Ensure the following activities are carried out IAW airline Part M and Part CAMO regulations, airline CAME, AMP and internal processes, and OEM instructions for continuous airworthiness:-Evaluation of mandatory maintenance requirements e.g. ADs, ETOPs, etc.-Evaluationof OEM and vendor technical instructions e.g. SBs, VSB, AOW, AOT etc.-Evaluation of aircraft/engine upgrades and modifications; management of implementation of modifications in accordance with EASA Part 21J (including RFQ, business case, approval process, and implementation).-Generation of Engineering Orders in AMOS to accomplish continuing airworthiness requirements.-Review of trend data to monitor the health of Engines/APUs and analyse trend shifts/troubleshooting with OEM and third-party service providers.-Support Line and Base Maintenance to ensure aircraft serviceability and provide support to other departments in the airline as necessary (including Materials, Quality, Air Safety, Planning, Ground Operations, Flight Operations, Finance).-Continuous supervision of third-party service suppliers such as OEM Technical Support provider.the acceptance and return of Aircraft to lessor/airline (through document inspection, physical aircraft/engine inspections, borescope records, LLP status, engine shop visit history, SB status, etc).and support the implementation of Lean within the Technical Services Department.-Note that the Team Lead will also be asked to support a portion of these activities above directly depending on load vs. capacity constraints.Work with the Maintenance Controls Centre (MCC) and Technical Support Engineering (TSE) teams to ensure AOG/work stoppage events are resolved as quickly as possible to maximize aircraft availability, reduce operational disruptions and assure safety and reliability of the airline operation. This might require working outside of normal business hours in case of operational necessity.Ensure a culture of continuous safety and compliance, including timely and effective resolution of all non-conformances and reporting of hazards via the Safety Management System, including self-reporting.Responsibility for timely delivery of Powerplant related projects and modifications, within budget and time constraints.Provide coaching and support to the Powerplant Engineers and graduate engineers; proactively identify training opportunities to ensure the team’s knowledge is fresh, thorough to ensure excellent performance; communicate a clear vision for the team, set yearly individual objectives and participate in yearly performance reviews with the Head of Powerplant and Asset Management.Constant communication and liaison with the Head of Powerplant and Asset Management to ensure synergies between the on-wing and off-wing teams.Continuously update Powerplant procedures, to reflect best practices and regulatory requirements, and ensure maximum efficiency.Be digitally minded, be willing to disrupt the status quo and relentlessly push to reduce waste, optimize processes, digitize tools and techniques.RequirementsAeronautical, Mechanical, or related Engineering degree.Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.Fluent in English.Strong interpersonal skills, ability to resolve conflicts between team members and between members based in different locations with diverse cultural background and work styles.Spanish will be valued.
