GEOSPATIAL DATA SCIENTIST

Geospatial Data Scientist - IT - Remote - 6-MonthsOur client, an international IT service provider, is seeking a Geospatial Data Scientist to join them as a contractor, with the option to work fully remote or onsite within the charming region of Valencia. Starting at an initial 6-month contract, multiple extensions are expected and there is great, long-term potential.ResponsibilitiesCreation, storage, maintenance, use and dissemination of geospatial data from various sources, including maps, satellite imagery and databases.Ensure the data is accurate, up-to-date, and properly organised within a Geospatial database. This involves data cleaning, quality assurance, data integration and creation of necessary workflows for geo-enriching data.Use advance tools for geospatial visualisation including programming languages and geospatial packages for the creation of interactive maps.Support in the data preparation for the creation of geo-enriched dashboards.Operationalise analytics capabilities, by creating ETL and Data Science workflows for geospatial data.Maintain and update geospatial databases.Manage data storage, perform routine maintenance tasks, and ensure data integrity and security.RequirementsBSc/BA in Computer Science, Engineering or relevant field; graduate degree/master’s in data science or another quantitative field is preferred.Any Azure certification in Azure (ex: Azure Data Science/Machine Learnin)Any certification in GIS toolsProficiency with programming languages such as Python and PysparkAdvance knowledge of geospatial packages including Sedona, Geomesa, Mosaic, H3…Proficiency with database programming languages such as SQL and PostgreSQL.Experience with mapping tools such as Carto, Deck.GL, QGIS and ARCGIS.Expertise in processing, analysing, and modeling within enterprise geospatial software applications as well as open-source software packages.If this role is of interest to you, please apply now!
