ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR, SCIENTIFIC COMMUNICATIONS EXCELLENCE

Associate Director, Scientific Communications Excellenc e The Associate Director (AD) of Scientific Communications Excellence is responsible for ensuring operational excellence of activities managed and directed by the Global Scientific Communications team in the Rare Disease Unit (Alexion).
In this role, the Scientific Communications Excellence AD will enable the Sci Comms team to develop and deliver all tactics efficiently and consistently, while adhering to all appropriate policies and regulations.
The Excellence AD will establish strong partnerships across the Sci Comms therapeutic team members and internal cross-functional stakeholders to enable the implementation of best publication practices and processes including but not limited to optimal departmental efficiency, metrics reporting, QC/audit readiness, consistency, and appropriate resource utilization.
Additional efforts will focus on process harmonization for congress activities, budget management and harmonization with the Global Medical Affairs business operations.
This role reports to the Head of Strategy and Excellence for GHEOR, GMC, Training/Field Capabilities.
You will be responsible for.
Leading and implementing solutions, processes, standards, SOPs, and guidance documents with internally and externally facing scope.
Oversight of and subject matter expertise on internal tools / systems utilized by the Sci Comms team.
This includes being responsible for ongoing training and conducting quality controls.
Ensuring audit readiness of the iEnvision publication platform Working collaboratively with the IT team and Digital Innovation team to identify gaps and scope enhancements to optimize systems and processes that support publications and scientific communications activities.
Developing, tracking, analyzing and reporting on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Ensuring innovation in scientific communications including but not limited to plain language summaries, digital formats for posters / presentations, QR codes, repositories etc.
and keeping up to date on trends in these areas.
Facilitating engagements with professional societies (e.
., ISMPP, MAPS etc.) Managing vendor personnel Working with the Sci Comms and Business Ops leads to track budgets and participating in annual budget and forecasts.
You will need to have.
Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline with substantial relevant work experience 5-7 years of relevant experience in a pharmaceutical company, or Medical Communications agency.
Extensive experience in implementing compliance and guidelines around medical education and publications practices (ICMJE, GPP, GDPR, Sunshine Act, etc.).
Experience in publication planning and management tools.
Proven meeting planning and facilitation skills.
Strong inter-personal skills and problem-solving capabilities.
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to create, track and plan timelines and budgets.
Ability to manage external vendors.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (including PowerBI and Excel) and other software and apps such as SmartSheet and Workday Experience working with document management systems (e.
., iEnvision Datavision, SharePoint, Veeva, etc.) Some travel may be required to represent company at professional societies (ex ISMPP) and other internal meetings.
